Removing the Meta links

I don’t like the Meta links on the sidebar and never have done.

On my first themes I used to edit the sidebar manually to just leave the login one there, but I am now starting to feel that this takes up unnecessary space.

Metas still in place

There are, of course, security issues with leaving it there. But I think that anyone who knows a bit about WordPress knows how to work out the URL to the login page, so this is not really a big issue.

Anyway, I am determined to use the widgets in TwentyTen to accomplish my design and to edit the PHP code in the theme as little as possible at the moment. So here goes:

1. Log into the Dashboard using an Administrator account.

2. Click on “Widgets” in the “Appearance” area of the left-hand sidebar.

3. Now click on the arrow next to the “Meta” widget.

Click on the arrow(Click on the image to enlarge)

4. Click on “Delete”.

Click on delete

5. That’s it – the meta links have gone!

The meta links have gone
