Adding a newsletter subscription box

I’ve added a newsletter subscription box to the sidebar today.

Now, the internet marketing experts will probably tell you that you need to offer some incentive to persuade your visitors to enter their name and e-mail address.  Maybe even add some graphics?

But my purpose here is to show you how to add the code to the sidebar.

The first thing that you will need is the HTML code for the sign-up form itself.  You should be able to get this from the service that you are using to send out the e-mails.  If you don’t have one yet and blog in English, then consider signing up with AWeber.

Once you have your HTML code log into WordPress using an administrator account.

1. Select “Widgets” from the “Appearance” section on the sidebar.

Select Widgets on the sidebar

2. Now drag the “Text” widget onto the “Primary Widget Area”.

... into the Primary Widget Area

Drag the text widget...

3. Copy the HTML code for your newsletter form into the widget’s large field:

Copy the HTML code into the text field

4. Click on “Save”.  Finished.
