A simple YouTube plug-in

If you want to embed YouTube videos on your blog, then the best way to do this is with a  plug-in.  That way, you do not need to use the YouTube embed code in the WordPress editor, and if that code needs to be changed then the plug-in can take care of it.

One of the simplest plug-ins to use is from Jörn Zaefferer.  I could not find it in the plug-in repository, so you might need to download it from his homepage.

Once installed, you only need to place the word “youtube” followed by a space and the video ID in square brackets at the relevant position in your post.  The plug-in replaces this with the code to embed the video.

I want to try out some other video plug-ins on this site, so I won’t embed a video on this post at the moment.  Instead, click here to see how a video embedded with this plug-in looks.
